The latest ManpowerGroup study highlights meta-topics in the labor market

Vienna (OTS) In the current edition of the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, more than 40,000 employers in 41 countries – 525 of them in Austria – were surveyed about current trends and challenges. Heidi Blaschek, managing director of commercial law at ManpowerGroup Austria: “In order to be able to provide our customers with adequate support, it is our clear responsibility to address the metatrends in the HR sector.

  • Employee Wellbeing als Top HR Trend: When asked about the influence of trends and the HR priorities derived from them for 2024, the following areas are clearly visible: Focus on Employee Wellbeing (64%), Green Transition (53%), AI (51%) and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (50% ).
  • Artificial Intelligence: 78% of the companies surveyed say they are dealing with challenges related to AI. Top challenges are finding qualified employees who have the necessary know-how (21%), training and further education of employees (19%) and redefining jobs (18%) in order to benefit from new technologies.
  • Green Transition: An increased focus on sustainability also changes the requirements and required skills of employees. When asked about their assessment of the extent to which the transition to a greener economy will change current jobs, companies assume that at least 53% of the required skills will need to be adapted in all areas.
  • Recruitment of skilled workers: 78% of companies say they have difficulty finding suitable skilled workers. Raúl Grijalba, Managing Director ManpowerGroup Austria: “Our study clearly shows that Austria is above the average of the countries surveyed when it comes to the shortage of skilled workers. It is important to quickly implement strategies to attract skilled workers. Jobs in the IT sector are considered the most difficult to fill. Collaboration & teamwork is mentioned as a top skill. Companies in the consumer goods & services sector (including retail) report the greatest challenges at 86%. When asked about strategies to address the shortage of skilled workers, companies are most likely (49%) to rely on flexibility in terms of working hours and location in order to become more attractive. Furthermore, the consideration of new talent pools such as older employees (26%) is becoming increasingly important.
