Mayor Michael Ludwig with the SPÖ is the election winner – and three parties are recommended as coalition partners.
The NEOS would like to continue the “progress coalition”, said Vice Mayor Bettina Emmerling when asked by journalists to the coalition: “Our election goal was a plus before the result and the possibility of a stable majority with the SPÖ.” She referred to the projects implemented together with the SPÖ, especially in the field of education: “There is still a lot to do here and we are not yet finished.” The cooperation in the coalition with the SPÖ was shaped by mutual trust. She referred to the government monitor with 97 percent implemented projects: “We want to continue working at this pace and the number of strikes.”
The provisional election results enable the Greens to move back to the government on the opposition bank after four and a half years. “We have many topics that combine us with the SPÖ-affordable living, good education and, above all, climate justice as the greatest social question of our time,” said Greens top candidate Judith Pühringer. The election result of the Greens also allows a stable majority to form in the local council.
The ÖVP also brought into play as a government partner-despite the infringed losses: “The mayor will invite explorations.
Before the election day, Mayor Michael Ludwig had announced that he wanted to provide government formation quickly. In the coming days, the city chief wants to charge exploratory talks. In it he wants to explore which “content -related cooperation opportunities” exist with the respective parties in question. His goal: “A stable city and state government before summer.” (Conclusion) Red/Ato/Mag
