Innsbruck (OTS) – For the sake of simplicity, Tiwag could run swimming pools, the Social Democratic Trade Union Group and NEOS have recently found. Seriously?
The Tiwag should go under the pool operators. This is what the Social Democratic Trade Union Group and NEOS are demanding in the run-up to the special state parliament. A side detail: One of the two groups claims to have above-average knowledge of economic matters.
In any case, the argument for opening up this new, promising Tiwag business area is: In Tyrol there are a lot of decrepit swimming pools in the hands of financially strapped communities and our state energy supplier urgently needs to work on its image. So what belongs together comes together based on needs. And there is enough money. Thanks to hydropower that does everything!
With the same logic, Tiwag could also take over the Tivoli Stadium and aim for participation in the Champions League with a factory team. Many Tyroleans would definitely like that too. At least if successful. Even better would probably be a good-mood bonus, which is paid out whenever price increases excite people. So at the latest when the ice cream parlors open again.
But back to the original idea, which is already creative enough. You have to have already reached the point of inflating the sixth wing of the water in order to recognize a demand that makes sense even outside of the regulars’ table or social media. Why on earth should Tiwag run swimming pools? Because the Innsbruck municipal companies also happen to do this due to their history? Or because a company that is owned by the public sector can be given almost any task as long as it seems politically opportune?
One thing is certain: Tyrol’s communities are under financial pressure. Swimming pool closures are a visible expression of this. This requires solutions. It is also clear that the national company Tiwag must now be prepared for the future as quickly as possible. The owner sets the framework conditions. Ruling in the manner of a landlord and activism are to be avoided.
