Elgar Schnegg (Teva/Ratiopharm) and Dr. Gerhard Klinger (Genericon Pharma). Dr. Martin Spatz (Stada) remains secretary. Matija Kovac (Bluefish Pharma) takes over the cashier function. As a new member, the General Association Accord Healthcare – a worldwide pharmaceutical company welcomes, produces generics, biosimilars and original products and sells it in over 85 countries.
Dr. Wolfgang Andiel is Lead Public Affairs at Sandoz and since 1998 in the company. The medical doctor is also involved in the interests of industry: at OEGV as chairman from 2004 to 2006 and since 2016 as president. He is also on the board of the Austrian Medicines Verification Organization (AMVO) and a member of various Pharmig working groups.
Stable framework necessary
The prices for generics decrease despite increasing costs and growing regulatory requirements. This increases the risk of bottlenecks and market narrowing. Around 20 medication already leaves the reimbursement code per month, including vital medication such as pain relievers, cardiovascular and diabetes medication. The national prescription for pharmaceutical storage further exacerbates the situation. The mandatory warehousing means considerable financial burdens.
“Without adjustments in pricing, there is a risk of further shortage of offer. The aim of the upcoming period of term is to create predictable framework conditions for generic manufacturers. We need sustainable competitive conditions to secure the availability of essential medication and thus the sustainable security of care of the patients “
emphasizes Andiel.
The Austrian Generalic Association congratulates the new government and offers its cooperation as a critical provider of people in a proven manner. “The extension of the ASVG price training rules provided for in the government program until the end of the legislative period is an important project. This will support the urgently needed reform discussions on generic refund, ”says Andiel.
