PVA does not pay rehabilitation in healing tunnels, patient threatens job loss
Vienna (OTS) –

Veronika D. suffers from psoriasis arthritis. This means inflammation on numerous joints and even on the spine. The skin is also affected: it has painful rashes on hands and feet. Wearing shoes hurts so much that she sometimes prefers to go barefoot even in winter. But there is something else: D. works as a delicatessen and is afraid of losing her job: customers could disgust, because they do not know that the purulent rashes and the entire illness are not contagious.

The only thing Veronika D. has helped so far is stays in the radon -containing air of the healing tunnel in Bad Gastein. “After that I was completely symptom -free,” says Veronika D. Except for pigment disorders, the rash was gone – the joint complaints were also better, says Ms. Dampf. For a few months, it started slowly again. Treatments with salt water that granted her social security do not use anything.

Approval would make sense and necessary

Meanwhile, the rash on the foot is getting bigger. D. is afraid for her workplace: “My boss has already said: If the rash comes back to his hands, he has to quit me. But I like to go to work! ” She would need another rehabilitation stay in Bad Gastein, but the pension insurance PVA does not appreciate it. Veronika D. has therefore made an appointment at the Graz response day by Volksanwalt Bernhard Achitz, now the public prosecutor is examining the case. “It would make sense and necessary that the PVA approved the application and that Veronika D. would be treated again in the healing tunnel,” said Achitz, who also discussed the case in the ORF program “Citizens’ Attorney on February 22. Unfortunately, nobody in the studio wanted to discuss the PVA.

The PVA is responsible for rehabilitation stays, which are intended to facilitate the consequences of serious chronic diseases. Achitz: “For pension insurance, it would also make sense to pay the rehab. As a result, Ms. D. can work longer and does not have to retire prematurely – which would certainly be more expensive for the PVA. As is so often the case here: to prevent diseases early is cheaper for the entire social system than the follow -up costs. ”
