“Life must remain affordable. That is why we have taken numerous measures in Vienna to actively combat inflation, ”emphasizes Ludwig. As early as 2022, Vienna was the first area body to decide its own energy support package. Because there was no nationwide rental cover, the housing costs were cushioned with the Vienna living bonus and a special credit for the tenants of community apartments. This year the rent increases in the municipal building are still exposed. In addition, the recipient and the amount of the rental allowance were noticeably increased. “We also create additional affordable living space in Vienna, even in times of high interest rates. As part of the 2024+ residential building offensive, around 22,200 apartments will be implemented in the coming years. The annual ticket of the Viennese lines will also be available for 365 euros in 2025! ”Explains Ludwig.
“All of these measures are common that with high social accuracy, helping is particularly helpful to those who suffer the most from inflation. Inflation is not a fate, we clearly showed that in Vienna. And I expect similar efforts throughout Austria from the future federal government. One -sided cuts, as is so often required, only have the potential to further heat inflation and to tighten the crisis on the labor market.
