As part of their controls, a total of almost five kilograms of cannabis and more than a kilogram of ketamine were recently taken up, which corresponds to a street sales value of around 80,000 euros. This is primarily due to the fine nasal nasal noses of the customs dogs “Ike” and “Joker”. More than one kilogram of ketamine in the mail
Initially, a risk -oriented control of the customs officers in mid -December 2024 led to a significant success in the fight against drug smuggling. When used in the mail distribution center in Vienna, the civil servants discovered 1,016 grams of the substance ketamine in a package shipment. The suspicious program was subjected to a more precise review after a reference to the specially trained service dog “IKE”. Ketamine, known as an anesthetic, is increasingly being used as an illegal party drug.
Cannabis intervention in the Vienna distribution center …
Service dog “IKE” was again successful again a short time later, on January 13, 2025. For routine controls, the service dog referred to a program that was subjected to a more precise follow -up. Suspicious substances were found and subjected to a test. As it turned out, the find was more than a kilogram of cannabis herb.
… with a vehicle control in Vorarlberg …
In the course of a further customs control in Vorarlberg, the customs officers of the Austria customs office were able to ensure a larger amount of cannabis. Thanks to the risk analysis and the targeted use of the “Joker” service dog, the illegal goods could be tracked down and pulled out of circulation.
A vehicle had noticed the civil servants due to his unusual choice of route and the driver’s survey clarified the suspicion of a possible smuggling. Service dog “Joker” showed particular interest in a backpack in the back seat, in which a small amount of cannabis was first discovered. During a more intensive search of the trunk, the civil servants found a larger plastic bag in the Mulde for the spare wheel, which contained 853 grams of cannabis herb. The handlebar was confessed.
… and with a parcel deliverer in Rankweil
“Joker” in January in Rankweil managed an even greater find when checking a delivery vehicle of a parcel service provider. The customs detection dog referred to a package that was loaded in the car using passive display behavior. When the show was opened, it turned out that it was probably also cannabis, which could be confirmed shortly afterwards using a quick test. A total of 3.1 kilograms were in the package, which corresponds to a street sales value of around 31,000 euros.
