In 2025, the Deutsche Bank Foundation again awards 15 scholarships for the Academy Music Theater today. Looking for young talents from the areas of stage and costume, conducting, dramaturgy, composition, cultural management, libretto/text and director, which curiously on new working methods and openly for collective work processes are to help shape innovative music theater.
Die Academy Music Theater today enables their scholarship holders in the two-year leadership program access to renowned opera houses, festivals, selected productions and background talks with artists, artists and management teams. The program focuses on dialogue and interdisciplinary understanding in dealing with the variety of contemporary music theater scene. The end of the scholarship is the collective development of music theater miniatures. Cooperation partners for the final project are Ensemble Modern and the University of Music and Performing Art Frankfurt.
The Academy Music Theater Today closes a gap in promoting young talent in the music theater area. It has been an established network and fixed size in the contemporary music theater scene for many years. Many alumni are now in leading positions works on international opera houses and festivals or successful as freelance.
The tender is aimed at students and young working people, as well as lateral vicinity of other fields of study or other training courses with relevant internships or professional experience in the above -mentioned divisions. Application deadline for the scholarship 2025-2027 is May 01, 2025.
The selection is made by a specialist jury. The jury for the 2025-2027 vintage will be announced after the selection process in October 2025. There is no legal claim to the allocation of a scholarship.
During the two-year scholarship program, the participants must have Europe as a job and center of life. Good knowledge of the German language is required. The age limit is 32 years (born 1993), exceptional rules are available for parental leave or a voluntary social year.
