In his lecture on January 30, 2025, the oncologist Univ informs. Prof. Dr. Johannes Drach on targeted therapies for cancer and answers questions from those affected and interested. The event is free and takes place at the Austrian Society of the Golden Cross, 1010 Vienna.
Around 440,000 people live in Austria with the diagnosis of “cancer”, the tendency is rising(i). Even if oncological diseases are still responsible for about a quarter of deaths, there have been significant progress in the treatment of numerous cancer in recent years.
The oncologist Univ. Prof. Dr. Johannes Drach, Medical Director of Confraternity and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Golden Cross private clinic, explains:
„The columns of cancer treatment are still surgery, radiation therapy and medicinal cancer therapy. However, the spectrum in drug cancer therapy has expanded significantly in recent years: not only the medication of chemotherapy is available, but various approaches to immunotherapy and so -called targeted medication. These new strategies have the advantage of making the cancer cells in particular and largely protected the healthy tissue. This increases effectiveness and improves the tolerance of the treatment
