FPÖ – Kickl: “Coalition talks started
Vienna (OTS) –

After today’s conversation between the FPÖ chief negotiators and the ÖVP party leaders, FPÖ federal party chairman NAbg. Herbert Kickl: “In this first round, agreement was reached that, as a first joint step, the budgetary framework and the course of action must be clarified. It would be illogical and inefficient to negotiate substantive political details without having clear budgetary guidelines as a basis for this.”

The ÖVP agreed that an EU deficit procedure should be averted for Austria given the existing billion-dollar budget hole. From the FPÖ’s point of view, such a procedure would politically and significantly complicate the economic reconstruction work that is already necessary for Austria.

A budget negotiating group with representatives from both parties has therefore been set up with immediate effect and meets permanently in order to clarify this fundamental question by the beginning of next week. FPÖ federal party chairman NAbg. Herbert Kickl made it important to note that “joint negotiations must be based on a firm and solid budgetary foundation right from the start. The population needs to know where they stand. Austrians have a right to planability, reliability and clarity. This is our approach to this project from day one. We want to govern Austria honestly.”
