gurkerl.at has been offering free* menstrual products since the end of November. Encouraged by a recent announcement from the city of Munich, gurkerl.at is extending the campaign.
Vienna (OTS) – Equality should not stop with hygiene products – the online supermarket gurkerl.at, together with its German sister Knuspr, made this demand to politicians at the end of November and set a good example: gurkerl.at and Knuspr customers have been benefiting since November 27th 2023 of free menstrual products. The online supermarkets themselves bear the costs. With the announcement by the city of Munich that tampons and pads will be available free of charge in public city toilets from 2025 as part of a pilot project, gurkerl.at and Knuspr believe that their campaign is on the right track.
“We have proven from the private sector that it is possible. We are very pleased about the city of Munich’s pilot project – an important milestone for all initiatives that advocate for free menstrual products in public spaces in order to support those for whom these hygiene products represent a financial burden,” says Carolin Kracmer, Marketing Director gurkerl .at & Knuspr. “The great response to our campaign and the approved pilot project in Munich encourage us to continue. For this reason, we are extending the initiative in Vienna and will continue to provide sustainable menstrual products there free of charge. The same applies to the location in the Rhine-Main area of our sister Knuspr,” adds Kracmer.
gurkerl.at and Knuspr joined the existing category for hygiene products on November 27, 2023 second category for free menstrual products on-line. The associated press release can be found here.
*For technical reasons, the products mentioned are offered in the online shop for 1 cent.
