Renovation of L 2048 and construction of a new footpath and cycle path
St. Pölten (OTS) –

The work to renovate the roadway on the L 2048, including the construction of a new footpath and cycle path as part of the through-town of Stixneusiedl in the municipality of Trautmannsdorf an der Leitha, has now been completed. Due to the damage that occurred, the roadway on the L 2048 as it passed through Stixneusiedl from the intersection with the B 10 to the Alte Bundesstraße/Trautmannsdorfer-Weg intersection no longer met today’s modern traffic requirements over a length of around 550 meters, which is why the state of Lower Austria and the market town of Trautmannsdorf an der Leitha have decided to renovate the L 2048 and to increase traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists, a new combined walking and cycling path should also be built in this area. The first approximately 300 meter long section from the intersection with the B 10 to the intersection with the old federal highway was completed last year.

This year, the roadway on state road L 2048 was renewed over a length of around 250 meters and a total area of around 1,500 square meters. As part of the road renovation, a combined pedestrian and cycle path was built southwest of the L 2048, existing parking lanes and local access roads were redesigned or rebuilt and the lighting was also renewed. In addition, the green space design gives the place a harmonious and natural look.

The road construction work and the work for the production of the ancillary facilities were carried out by the Strabag company. At the same time, work was also carried out to relocate the fixtures. The total construction costs for the road renewal of around 286,000 euros for both sections were borne by the state of Lower Austria. The total costs for the design of the ancillary facilities and parking areas, the new cycle path, the house connections, the water pipe and the lighting of around 1.7 million euros will be borne by the market town of Trautmannsdorf an der Leitha with funding from the state. As part of the project, the market town of Trautmannsdorf also renewed or renovated the over 60-year-old water pipe network, including house connections and the sewerage system in the municipal area.
