“Today’s decision on the special purpose grant of a total of 144 million euros for the states to repair the damage caused by the once-in-a-century flood this September is an important step for the communities, some of which were massively affected,” emphasizes ÖVP National Council member and agriculture spokesman Georg Strasser. Chancellor Karl Nehammer has repeatedly emphasized that no one will be left alone and has always advocated for support and help with recovery costs. The next measure has now been taken through the special purpose grant, which is available for those federal states in which the minimum damage per resident is above the amount of 100 euros.
“Many communities would not be able to repair damaged bridges or roads with existing resources. With the resolution passed at today’s National Council meeting, we are ensuring that necessary restoration measures and renovation work can also be carried out. We as a people’s party will continue to be a reliable partner for the states, regions and municipalities and will provide support where it is necessary,” concludes Strasser. (Ending)
