The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) ended successfully on November 10th in Shanghai. While many intangible achievements and connections were made, this year’s data shows that the Expo achieved unprecedented success in terms of global participation and business opportunities. Preliminary financial statements totaled $80.01 billion, up 2% year over year.
Lively participation from all over the world
As an important platform for global cooperation, the 7th CIIE invited 77 countries and international organizations from five continents to the comprehensive country exhibition. Participants brought unique cultures, national identities and modern technologies to the design of their stands, and there was an impressive array of over 200 immersive events at the stands. A total of 3,496 companies from 129 countries and regions participated in the Enterprise & Business Exhibition, including 1,585 companies from 104 Belt and Road Initiative countries, 1,106 companies from 13 Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership countries and 132 exhibitors from 35 least developed countries.
A variety of state-of-the-art innovations and premieres
Innovative achievements and various debuts were a major highlight at every edition of the trade fair. At the 7th CIIE, the Innovation Incubation Special Section presented 360 innovative projects from 34 countries and regions that support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups. In addition, multinational companies introduced 450 new products, services and technologies, including more than 100 global launches, 40 Asian debuts and more than 200 China debuts, providing new impetus to consumer demand.
International perspectives and collaborative dialogues in the HQF
The Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) is an important platform for international communication and is the focus of attention at every edition of the CIIE. The 7th HQF, which focused on current topics, recorded over 8,600 registrations and brought together more than 300 globally recognized experts and leaders from politics, business and science. At the 7th HQF the World Openness Report 2024 published together with the World Openness Index, which carries a message of openness and promoting international cooperation.
The 7th China International Import Expo was undoubtedly a success and demonstrated its important role as a stage for promoting global cooperation.
