What positive effects do investments in FWF-funded basic research bring to Austria as a location? What recommendations are derived for innovation and research policy? What can be learned from successful examples that manage to transform scientific findings into innovations for business and society?
The results of an Austria-wide study by WIFO, IHS and Joanneum Research are now available and demonstrate the economic and social “return on investment” of basic research funded by the FWF Science Fund.
With:
- Holger Bonin (Director Institute for Advanced Studies, IHS)
- Gabriel Felbermayr (Director of the Economic Research Institute, WIFO)
- Heinz Mayer (Managing Director Joanneum Research)
- Jürgen Janger (Study Coordinator, Senior Economist, WIFO)
- Christof Gattringer (President of the Austrian Science Fund FWF)
As well as Bernd Boidol (CEO Proxygen), Verena Gassner (archaeologist, University of Vienna) and Magdalena Hauser/Wolfang Lechner (CEOs ParityQC) representing examples of success from Austria.
