On November 16, 1995, 185 member states of UNESCO signed the Declaration of Principles of Tolerance. It defines the rules that enable humane coexistence on our planet. The LGBTIQ+ initiative QUEER MOMENTS is celebrating this historic date with an exuberant ball night that sets a visible signal for social tolerance with an inclusive music and cultural program – true to the motto: “Be who you are, because that’s a good thing.”
Ball organizer Ortrun Lynx was able to recruit the who’s who of the Austrian drag scene for the colorful show program. Next to Candy Liciouswho will host the evening Pandora Noxwho was the first cisgender woman to win the reality format Drag Race Germany, Robbie Gonzalez, Philisha Conditioner, DJane CountTessa, Crystal O. and Drag King Eric Big Clit on stage. Johann RosenhammerVoice of Germany Star Larissa Diana Frank, Second Aregbe, Philipp Pertl and Italian love complete the unique star line-up at the Palais Wertheim.
LA HONG brings young designers to the fore
Another program highlight is controlled by fashion designers THE HONG who curates an inclusive fashion show “QUEER MOMENTS in Fashion” with young designers and amateur models from Simmering. Ortrun Gauper: “Clothing has an important social function in our society because it can help us feel good and be who we are. With this project we want to show that attractiveness brings with it a high degree of individuality and that all people are beautiful in a unique way.

The program is rounded off by a digital exhibition by the art photographer Barbara Esslwhich shows her internationally acclaimed series “QUEER MOMENTS in LOST PLACES”.

Veronika Kaup-HaslerExecutive City Councilor for Culture and Science of the City of Vienna, and Thomas Steinhartdistrict head in Simmering, will take over the honorary protection for the QUEER BALL 2024.

Thomas Hubera fine winemaker and Buschenschank operator from Neustift am Walde, will be on board as a cooperation partner for the first time in 2024. His exclusive QUEER MOMENTS Frizzante Rose is also available in the restaurants Labstelle, Wien-City and Kelsen in Parliament. Top restaurateur Thomas Hahn is also among the guests of honor at the Queer Ball evening.
QUEER MOMENTS event series invites you to social discourse
Since 2022, highly acclaimed events have been taking place under the umbrella of QUEER MOMENTS (QUEER NIGHT in Schloss Neubuilding, “QUEER MOMENTS in Lost Places” photo exhibitions and pride trucks, “Drag goes Classic” concert in the Haus der Industrie, QUEER CHRISTMAS in Concert in the Protestant Faith Church in Simmering, ROYAL QUEER MOMENTS Clubbing, QUEER BALL in Schloss Neubuilding), which invited people across generations and across all district boundaries to social discourse.
Initiative of the Queer Dance association in community buildings
Queer Dance in Municipal Buildings is a non-profit and non-partisan association that has made a name for itself nationwide by organizing queer dance events in municipal buildings in Simmering. The aim of the club’s founders was to break down invisible social barriers through shared leisure activities and thus contribute to liberal, cosmopolitan coexistence.
