Stocker: “Kickl-FPÖ would have put gas supplies in Austria at risk”
Vienna (OTS) –

“The Kickl-FPÖ would have put the gas supply in Austria at risk. The Freedom Party voted several times in parliament against important measures that would guarantee long-term security of supply in Austria. For example, the FPÖ voted against requiring gas suppliers to have supply security concepts. But the FPÖ also did not agree to the package of measures for gas supply security, which included, among other things, the expansion of the gas suppliers’ storage obligations. If Herbert Kickl and the FPÖ had their way, Austria would now be facing a serious problem and a difficult winter after the Gazprom announcement. We have Chancellor Karl Nehammer to thank for the fact that this is not the case. Thanks to our Federal Chancellor, Austria has taken precautions and now has full gas storage facilities and alternative sources of supply available. This is another example of the FPÖ’s inability to take responsibility for our country and its people. Because if the FPÖ had its way, the gas supply for Austria’s households and also the economy would now be in acute danger,” explains Christian Stocker, General Secretary of the People’s Party.
