“Vienna Declaration” by Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán and FPÖ federal party chairman Herbert Kickl

During their meeting today, Viktor Orbán, chairman of Fidesz and Hungarian Prime Minister, and Herbert Kickl, federal party chairman of the FPÖ, signed the “Vienna Declaration” in the premises of the federal party and club chairman in parliament.

The “Vienna Declaration” in full:

Hungary and Austria hereby reaffirm their neighborly friendship and their unshakable ties based on history and culture. This is also the basis for our common will to preserve and further develop the diversity of our wonderful European continent as an axis of positive reform.

We are particularly proud to have forged an alliance at the European level, side by side with very successful partners from the major nations of our continent, which is aware of the special responsibility of the Western character of our continent. We want and will form a positive reform force for Europe on equal terms and in friendship with one another. Patriotism is a form of pride in one’s country and culture. And only those who have this appreciation for their own country also have understanding and respect for other people’s love for their respective countries.

Reforming Europe and the EU does not mean promoting centralism and making the institutions ever stronger, but rather giving power back to the people and their elected representatives in the parliaments of the member states. The key to a successful reform of Europe lies in valuing and preserving the diversity of peoples, cultures, mentalities and ways of life. Brussels should lose its political importance, but direct democracy and parliamentarism in the home states should be strengthened.

We see the extent of illegal migration and the organized abuse of the right to asylum as the greatest threats to Europe’s established culture. These not only lead to a clash between different cultures, but also to the decline of autochthonous peoples and thus to a threat to the European character. Both illegal migration and abuse of asylum must be combated using all means of the rule of law.

We also clearly object to the fact that there should be an absurd number of other genders in addition to women and men and that children could lose their gender identity at a very young age through left-wing educational experiments.

We actively advocate that wars that have arisen around the world come to an end as quickly as possible through ceasefires and negotiations. Europe should offer itself as a place for negotiations and thus do justice to the original concept of an EU as a peace union.

We, the Alliance of Patriots, want the European Union project to focus on its actual objectives: to ensure peace, freedom, security and prosperity for as many citizens as possible. We reaffirm our goal to further consolidate and strengthen our successful alliance internally so that it can grow and gain strength externally.

Viktor Orbán Herbert Kickl
