“Black and Blue’s secret paper on the closure of hospitals across the country has been discussed for over a week now. Mikl-Leitner and Landbauer have been making excuses for over a week. But reality shows that the secret paper has long since been implemented: be it the closure of the maternity ward in Waidhofen/Ybbs, the reduction of outpatient opening times in Gänserndorf or the reduction of acute treatment in the upper Waldviertel – the secret paper has already been implemented point by point in the last few months. We are therefore calling for an immediate stop to all hospital closures and the resumption of vacancies,” says Control State Councilor, SPÖ Lower Austria Chairman Sven Hergovich and adds:
“Voters deserve honesty and they expect transparency. That’s why I demand a location guarantee for every hospital. Acute and primary care must remain guaranteed across the board and close to home. That is why we will bring forward the proposal at the next state government meeting to issue a joint location guarantee as a state government. So that the people of Lower Austria already know that all hospitals are guaranteed to continue to exist. To better finance the health system, we propose a dissolution of the LGA and a joint review of the budget. There are enough deletions, especially among national companies and their boards. This is intended to finance an increase in employee pay to the level of neighboring federal states in order to end the personnel crisis in hospitals,” concludes Hergovich.
