Johanniter: Donating blood doesn’t hurt, but you do good things

Grell-Kunzinger: Let’s make a New Year’s resolution to donate blood regularly – maybe you’ll need a blood bank yourself.

Vienna (OTS) Due to the current flu and corona wave, the number of blood donations has fallen drastically in the last few weeks – combined with the risk of an impending blood supply shortage. “In Austria, almost 1,000 units of blood are needed every day for operations and medical treatments. It is therefore important that enough people regularly donate their blood for the general public,” says Petra Grell-Kunzinger, Federal Managing Director of the Johanniter in Austria, on the occasion of a blood donation campaign by the Johanniter at the Red Cross.

Grell-Kunzinger: “We Johanniter and our rescue and disaster relief teams are there to save lives. With our blood donations we are now helping others to save lives. My appeal for the New Year: Let’s make it our New Year’s resolution to donate blood regularly. Donating blood doesn’t hurt, it’s doing good. And who knows, maybe one day you will need a blood bank yourself.”

The Johanniter would like to thank all donors and funding organizations for their support as well as all partner organizations for the good cooperation last year and wish you a happy new year in 2024 – the Johanniter anniversary year! Next year the Johanniter will celebrate its 50th anniversary as a volunteer aid organization in Austria.
