Austria is recording a sad peak in company insolvencies. Hardly a week goes by without reports about bankruptcies of (well-known) companies. The AK experts are also feeling this when it comes to insolvency advice, as they have to cope with a significant increase in inquiries.
At the same time, there is a massive increase in unemployment. Unfortunately, the public discourse focuses on the individual responsibility of job seekers – and the demand for ever more tightening and sanctions.
From AK Vienna’s perspective, the current economic situation, bankruptcies and unemployment cannot be viewed separately from each other. Behind every company bankruptcy are the fates of people who lose their jobs. Two new studies commissioned by AK Vienna show how precarious the financial situation can become for job seekers.
To do this, please inform:
Karin Ristic, Head of the Insolvency Advisory Department, AK Vienna
Silvia Hofbauer, Head of the Labor Market and Integration Department, AK Vienna
