“The statements by Wifo boss Gabriel Felbermayr show that structural reforms are unavoidable,” says NEOS chairwoman Beate Meinl-Reisinger in response to today’s news Ö1 lunchtime journal. “The people in Austria want these reforms – and they have a right to politicians implementing them now. We have no time to lose in the renovation.”
The NEOS boss is therefore demanding an immediate and comprehensive cash collapse. “If explorations are to make sense, everything has to be put on the table honestly and transparently beforehand. We need to know exactly how much renovation is needed so that we can tackle the necessary reforms together. We NEOS were the only party to address the poor budget situation before the election. And we were the only party that had the courage to say that things can no longer go on like this and that we have to get Austria back on a path to consolidation after years of “whatever the cost.”
We sat down with experts before the election and developed a restructuring package with a potential of 20 billion euros in order to create scope for real relief for people and for investments in the future. Without such a reform course it will not work.”
