On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the City of Vienna – Road Administration and Road Construction will begin the construction of a bicycle traffic facility on Lobgrundstrasse between Napoleonstrasse and Finsterbuschstrasse/Refineriestrasse in the 22nd district. This will close another gap in the main cycle transport network.
Details
In Lobgrundstrasse in the section between Napoleonstrasse and Finsterbuschstrasse/Refineriestrasse, a 2.60 to 3 meter wide cycling facility will be built on the northwest side. The new cycle path, which is around 280 meters long, connects to the existing cycle infrastructure. The two-way cycle path will be designed as a mixed walking and cycle path between the Lobauer harbor access bridge and the entrance to the ÖMV. As part of the construction of the cycle path, the intersection area of Lobgundstrasse/Finsterbuschstrasse/Refineriestrasse will be rebuilt. An area of around 850 square meters will be unsealed and integrated into the Lobau National Park. The construction of a road divider at the Lobgrundstrasse/Finsterbuschstrasse intersection will increase traffic safety.
Traffic measures
During construction, the bus stops on line 92B “Lobgrundstrasse” will be temporarily relocated a few meters towards the city center. From October 15th until the end of construction, vehicle traffic will be alternately routed through the work area using traffic signals. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be maintained.
