From August 30th to September 1st, 2024, Zell am See-Kaprun welcomed a superlative starting field for the twelfth edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun – Bruck – Maishofen – Piesendorf. In front of 20,000 visitors over the entire weekend, a total of 2,500 athletes fought for victory between glacier, mountain and lake. This went to Germany for both women and men: Caroline Pohle and Mika Noodt prevailed against their strong competition and triumphed impressively. With Lisa Perterer’s 6th place, Austria can look forward to a top ten place among the women.

Once again, the international triathlon scene turned its attention to Zell am See-Kaprun, where the IRONMAN 70.3 was officially named the best in the world. With perfect weather conditions and a new record number of visitors of 20,000 spectators over the entire weekend, the region once again confirmed its status as a top venue. In addition, good news was announced on Friday: With the contract extension between IRONMAN and Zell am See-Kaprun, IRONMAN 70.3 will remain an integral part of the tourism region’s event calendar until 2029. The date for the 13th edition has already been set: August 31, 2025.

TWO NEW WINNERS FOR THE IRONMAN 70.3 ZELL AM SEE-KAPRUN: CAROLINE POHLE AND MIKA NOODT CELEBRATE PREMIERE VICTORIES

This year’s IRONMAN 70.3 in Zell am See-Kaprun was part of the new Pro Series, an exclusive series with a points-based ranking system for professional athletes. A particularly top-class field of 2,500 athletes, including over 80 professionals, took part in the sold-out main competition on Sunday. The participants had to complete 1.9 km of swimming in Lake Zell, 90 km of cycling through Zell am See, Kaprun, Bruck, Piesendorf, Taxenbach, Lend-Embach, Dienten, Maria Alm, Saalfelden and Maishofen and 21.1 km of running along the Zell lake promenade .

The Germans underlined their dominance at the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun with two victories in both the women’s and men’s races. The fourth German victory in a row went to Mika Noodt, who led the field from cycling kilometer 32 and brought his first triumph in Zell am See-Kaprun to the finish ahead of Jelle Geens (BEL). The podium was completed by Gregor Payet (LUX). In the women’s race, Caroline Pohle (GER) confirmed her excellent form after her triumph at the IRONMAN 70.3 in Tallinn last week. As second place after the swimming, she took the lead after the first transition zone and didn’t relinquish it on the cycling and running courses. She won confidently ahead of Grace Thek from Australia and Laura Madsen from Denmark. Austria can also look forward to a top result: Lisa Perterer made it into the top ten with a sensational 6th place.

The IRONMAN 70.3 is considered one of the top events in the region and is celebrated accordingly: The starting signal for the event weekend was once again given this year with the NIGHT RUN AUSTRIA, in which 450 participants ran a tenth of the marathon distance – namely 4.2 km. have measured.
