St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) In the last few days the weather has also been stormy in the mountains, with large amounts of snow and rain falling. However, six cable car and seven drag lift companies can go into operation on Christmas Day during the Christmas holidays.

A broadcast from ecoplus Alpin GmbH has shown that thirteen ski areas with a total of more than 40 lifts and around 80 kilometers of slopes will be in operation on Christmas Day tomorrow. In addition, the Rax cable car will be open for snowshoe hikers and, from St. Stephen’s Day, the Schneeberg chair lift will be open for tourers and hikers.

“The snow situation in our ski areas is generally good: on the mountain there is often 80 cm, in the valley around 40 cm. Due to the weather situation, we recommend that our guests find out more online in advance,” says Markus Redl, managing director of the state-owned ecoplus Alpin GmbH, which operates around two through its holdings Annaberger Lifte, Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen, Hochkar Bergbahnen, Ötscherlifte and Wexl Arena St. Corona Make a third of the offer.

During the Christmas holidays, Semmering-Hirschenkogel, the Wexl Arena St. Corona am Wechsel and the Skiarena Jauerling (from December 26th, 2023) will also offer nighttime operations in addition to daytime.

“We have been working tirelessly in our ski areas over the last few days to prepare everything for the Christmas holidays. I would like to thank all employees for this. The anticipation for the guests is huge, the conditions at Hochkar, for example, are better than they have been for a long time,” says Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the state governor responsible for tourism.
