Plowing World Championship: Both Austrians on the podium

Tartu/Estonia (OTS) –

The two plowers Leopold Aichberger (Lower Austria) and Bernhard Keferböck (Upper Austria) competed for Austria at the 69th World Plowing Championships in Estonia. In Tartu they impressively demonstrated that plowing is more than just an agricultural practice, but rather a precision sport. Aichberger took an excellent third place overall with his reversible plow. Keferböck achieved the same placement with his bed plow in the stubble field competition and was also awarded the title: Newcomer World Champion.

Unlike in previous years, the competition took place on the grassland on the first day of the World Plowing Championships. The following day the plowers were allowed to show off their skills in the stubble field. In the supreme discipline of soil cultivation, an expert jury evaluated, among other things, the uniformity of the furrows and compliance with the working depth. Keferböck achieved a great 7th place in the grassland plowing and Aichberger was also able to achieve one of the top placings with his 5th place. In the stubble field category, Aichberger was also able to look forward to a 5th place and Keferböck was able to look forward to a place on the Stockerl with his 3rd place. These great achievements mean that Keferböck, who took part in the world championship for the first time, can bear the title of “Newcomer World Champion” and was the best plower under 25 years of age (bed plow) at the world championship. The overall victory in rotary plowing and bed plowing went to Ireland.

Plowers have already shown their skills in state and federal competitions

The 2023 Federal Plowing Decision, in which the two Austrian plowers gave their best and thus earned them a ticket to the World Championship, is not the only success for the two. Leopold Aichberger from Lower Austria has already taken part in a world championship twice with his reversible plow. Bernhard, who took part in the World Championships for the first time this year, has also already achieved podium places at both state and federal level.

Sponsors ensure perfect technical equipment

“The two plowers have shown that hard training pays off. In addition, reliable partners are essential for the entire team. The World Cup participants and the rural youth Austria would like to thank all sponsors. “Especially with this year’s gold sponsors Agrana, Österreichische Hagelversicherung, Maschinenring, die Saat, Genol, Lindner, Trelleborg, Toferer Textil, Lely and Reisewelt,” said Federal Manager Markus Buchebner, thanking the supporters.
