Police draw positive conclusions after Frequency Festival
Vienna (OTS) –

With the end of the four-day Frequency music festival on August 17, 2024 in St. Pölten, the Lower Austria State Police Department is drawing positive conclusions. According to the organizers, there were around 70 criminal complaints from the around 180,000 visitors, none of which were serious crimes. In particular, thefts and the seizure of small quantities of narcotics were reported. This means that the reports are at a similarly low level as in 2023. The operation at the Frequency Festival was covered by the police in Lower Austria with uniformed police officers, plainclothes personnel and special forces.

Interior Minister Gerhard Karner: “I would like to thank the hundreds of police officers from Lower Austria whose efforts contributed to a peaceful and happy music festival. But now it’s time to look forward and do everything possible as a police force to ensure that the next major events take place safely and peacefully. Police preparations for Coldplay’s concerts at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna are particularly intensive. I am therefore convinced that these events will also take place safely.”

Temporary restricted areas during Coldplay concerts

Extensive preparations for Coldplay’s concerts are in full swing at the Vienna State Police Department. Both uniformed and civilian forces as well as operational and special units from the Vienna police are deployed at the concerts. There will be temporary traffic closures and restricted areas around the concert in the Ernst Happel Stadium that extend to the Praterstern. Access and access controls are carried out. As part of these checks there will also be searches.
