State Secretary Mayer on the death of Elisabeth Leopold

“Elisabeth Leopold, together with her husband Rudolf, was considered a central figure in the Austrian art world,” said Art and Culture State Secretary Andrea Mayer. “It is thanks to their great commitment and their love of art that their outstanding collection of classic Austrian modernism – built with dedication over decades – has become a solid and important cultural heritage of our country. With her legacy, she has had a lasting impact on the Austrian museum landscape and her work will live on in the unique works of art. My condolences go out to her family and her many companions.”
