Wait for the Christ Child with ORF 1

Pippi, Kasperl, Cinderella and the Grinch shorten the time until the presents are given on December 24th

Vienna (OTS) Every year again… The question arises: What to do until the Christ child finally comes? On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24th, 2023, ORF 1 will be offering Christmas classics and animated hits that allow you to answer this question with a clear conscience: “Television!”

It starts after the “OKIDOKI” children’s program at 7:05 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. with two episodes of “Pippi Longstocking” – including the wonderful Christmas episode with Pippilotta Viktualia Rollgardina Schokominza Efraim’s Daughter Longstocking. At 8 a.m. Kasperl and Leopold look for “The Lost Gifts” when the message says “Hello Kasperl”. After the “OKIDOKI” Advent calendar (8:25 a.m.), “The Knickerbocker Gang” starts their Christmas service at 8:30 a.m. – can they solve the mystery of the Star Court in the Christmas film based on the book by Thomas Brezina? This year “Michel in the Soup Bowl” starts at 9.20 a.m. before “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” begins at 10.55 a.m. Both classics from 1971 and 1973 can also be easily accompanied by stories from parents and grandparents about the “good old television days”.

“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is on the ORF 1 program at 12.15 p.m. and is an American fantasy film by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston based on a screenplay by Ashleigh Powell and Simon Beaufoy. The film is based on ETA Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker”.

The brightly colored, extremely funny animated adventure “The Grinch” based on the classic children’s book by Dr. Seuss begins at 1:45 p.m.: Otto Waalkes takes on the role of the grumpy Grinch, who wants to steal Christmas from the Whos. However, the wish of a carefree girl touches even his petrified heart. Hilarious Christmas fairy tale in a class of its own!

And at 3 p.m., the last item on the film waiting list is “Frozen 2,” the sequel to Disney’s animated hit: Frozen Elsa and her sister Anna come to an enchanted forest in their second adventure. Together with Kristoff, reindeer Sven and snowman Olaf (with the voice of Hape Kerkeling), they face angry nature spirits in order to make up for their family’s debts. Enchanting and simply magical – just like the presents afterwards.
