First held in 1983 as part of the European Forum Alpbach, the technology discussions are reinventing themselves after over 40 years. The new Technology Talks Austria will take place from 12-13. September 2024 in the MuseumsQuartier Vienna. The main theme is the central role of research, technology and innovation (RTI) for the “triple transition” – the simultaneous ecological and digital transformation that should be humane. Research secures jobs and prosperity, strengthens the competitiveness of Austrian industry and Austria as a location.

Increasing competitiveness
“Against the background of global developments, it is about developing a resilient economy that must be climate-friendly, efficient and humane,” explains Brigitte Bach, chairwoman of the event board of trustees and spokeswoman for the AIT management. “The big challenge is that all of these processes are interwoven and occur at great speed at the same time. “On top of that, we have to make sure that we use these challenges to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the economy and industry in Austria,” said Bach.
On September 12th and 13th, 2024, the Vienna MuseumsQuartier will mutate into a network node of knowledge, in which internationally renowned speakers will illuminate the role of FTI in the topics of “ecological transformation”, “digital transformation” and “humane transformation” at numerous exciting locations. Building on this, implications for RTI policy will be discussed – at both the international, European and national levels.
More than 80 renowned speakers in a 26-hour program
Visitors can expect a total of 26 hours of top-class program – a balanced mix of lectures, discussions, workshops and enough space for exchange and networking. “The Technology Talks are a unique opportunity to exchange ideas about the latest trends and innovations and learn from the best. An excellent scientific committee, consisting of Horst Bischof, Peter Moser, Jens Schneider, Martin Hetzer, Sonja Sheikh, Jan Wörner, Ulrike Diebold and Martin Gerzabek, has used its network to identify and find top speakers,” explains the chairman of the program advisory board and Scientific Director of AIT, Andreas Kugi.
The more than 80 speakers include exciting personalities such as Andrea Renda (CEPS), Alexia Cambon (Microsoft), Jan Wörner (acatech), Elizabeth Churchill (MBZUAI), Thomas Henzinger (FORWIT), Gauri Singh (IRENA) and André Loesekrug-Pietri (JEDI). In addition to and in-depth on the general topic, workshops take place, which are organized in a proven manner in cooperation with partner organizations.
