Over the past 14 days, around 500 children from 21 CEE countries (including Georgia, Bosnia, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Estonia) got to know Austria’s most beautiful sides, inspired senior citizens and planted trees. “Every year it is fascinating to see that children always find a way to communicate. Even if they don’t speak the same language or come from different cultures. That’s why – and out of respect for our colleagues – we enable children to have this special experience. We have held the VIG Kids Camp for the twelfth time this year.”explained Mag. Robert LasshoferChairman of the Board of the Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein. “Diversity, tolerance and appreciative cooperation are essential components of our insurance group’s values compass. We also convey this to the youngest generation as part of the VIG Kids Camp. We therefore support this valuable initiative by our main shareholder with deep conviction,” emphasized Hartwig LögerCEO der Vienna Insurance Group.
Cross-generational encounters
This year’s VIG Kids Camps took place at four locations: in Vienna-Strebersdorf, in Salzburg (in St. Michael im Lungau and in Radstadt im Pongau) and in Carinthia (in Seeboden on Lake Millstätter See). During their stay, the children also visited facilities for senior citizens. They delighted the residents there with folk and modern dance and singing performances as well as creative and acrobatic performances. In addition, a joint tree planting campaign was also carried out. In addition to lots of games, fun and action, the children also explored Austria’s most beautiful sides: hikes on mountains and glaciers, expeditions to lakes as well as salt and stalactite caves and sightseeing in Vienna, Salzburg and Klagenfurt were among the things on the program.
“Act in solidarity”
In order to be able to take part in the VIG Kids Camp, a photo competition under the motto “Act in solidarity” was announced at the beginning of the year in the leading insurance group in Central and Eastern Europe. Interested children between the ages of 9 and 13 of group employees were able to take part. The most creative submissions were awarded an invitation to the VIG Kids Camp.
