AVISO: Anti-Semitism conference on September 10th and 11th in Parliament
Vienna (PK) –

On the initiative of National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka, an international parliamentary anti-Semitism conference will take place in Austria for the first time on September 10th and 11th. The conference, which is also expected to include parliamentary speakers, is intended to help build a parliamentary alliance against anti-Semitism, with which anti-Semitic developments that pose a threat to democracies can be countered. The thematic focus is on trends in anti-Semitism, the situation of the Jewish communities in Europe and the situation in the Middle East.

Opening words are expected from National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka as well as keynotes from anti-Semitism researcher and professor at the TU Berlin Monika Schwarz-Friesel, the European Commission’s Anti-Semitism Commissioner Katharina von Schnurbein and the Director General of UN Watch Hillel Neuer. Also speaking are the journalist and MEP Assita Kanko, the anti-Semitism researcher Marc Neugröschel, the chairman of the European Rabbinical Conference Pinchas Goldschmidt, the chairman of the European Union of Jewish Students Emma Hallali, the Arab-Israeli journalist Yoseph Haddad and the freelance author and journalist Christoph David Piorkovsky.
