Announcement for the 48th Days of German Language Literature

Ingeborg Bachmann Prize award ceremony on June 30, 2024 in the ORF regional studio in Carinthia

Vienna (OTS) The opening of the 48th Days of German-Language Literature with the drawing of the reading order will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the ORF regional studio in Carinthia. Reading and discussion will take place from Thursday, June 27th to Saturday, June 29th. The final discussion with the awarding of the prize will take place on Sunday, June 30th. There is a change in the jury: after the jury chairwoman Insa Wilke left at her own request, the author, critic and actress Laura de Weck will strengthen the Bachmann Prize jury. Klaus Kastberger, who has been an integral part of the jury for many years, will take over the chairmanship.

Guidelines for the 2024 competition:

Only unpublished, German-language prose texts (no translations) with a maximum reading time of 25 minutes are permitted for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize readings. The submitted texts must be formatted in 12-point font and sent by post to one or more jury members (including contact details). The selection of authors is the sole responsibility of the jury.

14 participants will be admitted for 2024. Applicants can address one or more jury members with their texts.

To apply, you must be recommended in writing by a publisher or literary magazine.

The submission deadline ends on February 21, 2024 (date of postmark). Each jury member selects two applicants who are invited to the competition. There is no other option to take part in the Days of German Language Literature as a candidate.
