The children set off today from Wiener Neustadt towards the Adriatic. The 7 to 13 year olds spend wonderful holidays together on the Slovenian coast. Thanks to the many donors and sponsors, participation is free for children from low-income families.
“There are many reasons why children cannot go on vacation, whether financial or physical circumstances make it difficult, it is not possible for everyone,” says Volkshilfe President Prof. Ewald Sacher, “which is why we have been organizing integrative children’s holidays since 1995. Children go on holiday to the sea together and spend carefree days in the community with our care team.”
“A special thank you goes to the many donors and sponsors who financially support the Volkshilfe holidays,” explains managing director Gregor Tomschizek, “so this year we were able to cover almost all of the participation costs despite low family incomes.”
After a break due to the pandemic, Volkshilfe Niederösterreich is offering sun, games, fun and sea from July 29th to August 11th, 2024 for children aged 7 to 13 with and without special needs. The holiday complex in Ankaran, Slovenia is suitable for children and disabled people and has its own beach and a large seawater pool.
The carers have been carefully selected and have social-educational experience and are trained in dealing with children with special needs. They ensure that the children are cared for according to their needs and create a program that is appealing to all children.
