This Monday, the team at Therme Laa welcomed numerous representatives from tourism, business and politics, including state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, to the opening of the new Silent Villas at the Laa thermal resort on the Thaya in the Weinviertel. “One of the most beautiful regions in the federal state,” as the governor said, “the Tuscany of Lower Austria.”
Mikl-Leitner recalled that she had witnessed and supported the development of the thermal baths from the very beginning, “where there were many skeptics, but we stuck to the idea and continually developed the thermal baths further.” With the opening of the ten new Silent Villas, which were designed and implemented as an exclusive retreat for adults, celebrate the sixth expansion stage of the thermal resort. “The new Silent Villas are another milestone in the development of Therme Laa and perfectly round off the offering of hotel, thermal baths and Silent Spa,” she said.
In the last 21 years, the thermal spa has developed into “a leading business and flagship for the Weinviertel and the tourist region of Lower Austria,” said Mikl-Leitner, who explained: “The number of overnight stays has increased tenfold and the thermal spa is an important one with more than 230 jobs Employer.” More than 40 million euros in added value come directly from the thermal baths, “not only the regional economy benefits from this, but the entire Weinviertel tourism industry.”
In addition, Therme Laa is an important strategic partner when it comes to the common goal of developing Lower Austria from an excursion destination to a vacation destination. “The thermal baths reflect what makes Lower Austria so diverse and successful, because here and throughout the country our guests can feel and experience our beautiful natural landscape, wine, cuisine and culture,” emphasized the state governor. Every fifth guest comes to Lower Austria because of the excellent wines and cuisine. “Think particularly of our cellar alleys, a trademark of the Weinviertel and a cultural heritage that we revitalize and make accessible to our guests.” She spoke of art and culture that pulsates in every corner of the country, as well as of hiking and Cycle tourism as an important holiday motive, “where numerous tours are inviting, especially in the Weinviertel with over 3,000 cycle routes such as the ‘Iron Curtain Trail’.” The state governor was convinced that the Weinviertel is a “model region that perfectly fulfills the main holiday motives of our guests”.
The architect of the new Silent Villas, Wolfgang Vanek, also spoke at the opening, talking about their unique selling points and their furnishings. The Silent Villas in the Laa thermal resort are “places of contemplation for the guests.”
After the keystone was placed and the keys were symbolically handed over, the Silent Villas could be visited.
