The majority of the population no longer wants to be fooled.
Vienna (OTS) – December 21, 2023 – Just last week, a survey for the APA showed that the climate stickers from the so-called “Last Generation” and the “Fridays for Future” have reached the absolute lowest point of unpopularity among all non-governmental organizations. At minus 63 and minus 41 percent, respectively, the Austrian population has such a bad image of the self-proclaimed activists that the two organizations certainly deserve. “Anyone who recklessly hinders tens of thousands of people on their way to school, to work or to important appointments such as the doctor’s should not be surprised if the supposedly important message of the disruptive actions is completely suppressed,” says Prof. Burkhard Ernst from the association “ My Car”, an initiative to promote individual mobility, and further: “These stubborn demonstrators still haven’t understood that they are only causing dissatisfaction but are harming their own cause. Many people depend on cars and it’s no use terrorizing them at all!”
The initiative requires the responsible politicians and authorities to treat the harmful actions as required by law. Prof Ernst: “The judiciary should make its decisions without being influenced. It is all the more astonishing that Justice Minister Alma Zadic intervened in ongoing proceedings and thereby prevented a court decision by issuing instructions. Since then, all citizens, not just drivers, have been asking themselves whether some people are more equal before the law.”
The Union “My Car – Initiative to promote individual mobility” advocates for the rights and concerns of Austrian drivers. Building on the conviction that the car is an essential part of everyday life and an important factor in the domestic economy, he tries to effectively shape transport policy in Austria. The aim is to strengthen multimodal transport and to ensure sustainable socio-political acceptance of individual mobility as well as an appropriate environment and a positive socio-political attitude to the topic “Car”.
