FPÖ – Steger: EU rule of law report degenerates into a weapon against dissenters | Freedom Parliamentary Club
Brussels/Vienna (OTS) –

“The EU rule of law report once again gives Austria a bad report. It would also have been presumptuous to believe that anything would change for the better in terms of corruption and politically influenced allocation of posts under an ÖVP-led government,” said the liberal European spokeswoman and EU representative Petra Steger in response to the current report.

“As long as the government – especially Chancellor Nehammer – dances to the tune of the warmongers and destroyers of prosperity in Brussels, this criticism will have no consequences. Only states that oppose this madness – such as Hungary, for example – are actually being prosecuted. The rule of law report thus becomes a weapon against those who deviate from the given EU consensus opinion,” said Steger.

The fact that no measure is too stupid or too childish for the Eurocrats to annoy Hungary is currently proven by the decision of EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner Borrell to hold the informal Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels instead of Budapest. “I call on Austria’s Foreign Minister Schallenberg to immediately declare his support for this smear theater and to announce whether he, too, advocated for the meeting to be postponed and thus stabbed our neighboring country in the back,” said Steger.
