In May 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Serbian National Football Stadium and the EXPO 2027 project carried out by POWERCHINA was successfully completed. At the ceremony, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his high expectations for the project and thanked China for its support. For example, the company also built Qatar’s first solar power plant, the 800-megawatt Al Kharsaah photovoltaic power plant, which was commissioned during the 2022 World Cup. Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi noted that the project has increased the use of renewable energy and supported Qatar’s commitment to a “carbon-neutral” World Cup.
In Benin, POWERCHINA has carried out multi-purpose stadium projects and built sports facilities in ten cities. The Benguela and Lubango stadiums in Angola were designed and built by POWERCHINA.
