New sports field grandstand ceremoniously opened in Neunkirchen

LH Mikl-Leitner: “Through sport, our children and young people learn what togetherness and camaraderie mean.”

St. Pölten (OTS) State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner spoke of a “big day for the municipality of Neunkirchen, the district, but above all for the Neunkirchen sports club” yesterday, Friday, as part of the ceremonial opening of the new sports field grandstand. Officials, players, numerous representatives from politics, blue light and security organizations as well as many Neukirchen residents took part in the opening ceremony.

A celebration that should sharpen the view of the positive in challenging times, said the state governor, who particularly emphasized volunteer work and club life in Lower Austria. Neunkirchen also has a lively club life – from the fire department, culture, music and education to the scouts and the carnival guild. “And of course the sports club, where the opening of the new grandstand today is a sign of our appreciation and support for volunteer work and the many sports clubs in our country,” she said. Officials, children’s and youth coaches, groundskeepers, helpers in the canteen and many more “support this club and thus contribute to the coexistence and quality of life of the city community.” The new sports field grandstand has raised the entire sports facility “to a higher level of the times” and as a country we will continue to strengthen sports facilities, exercise and sports clubs, because “especially through sport, our children and young people learn what togetherness and camaraderie mean.”

Mikl-Leitner also recalled what has already been achieved in cooperation between the state of Lower Austria and the municipality of Neunkirchen and spoke, among other things, about the new construction of the fire station, pedestrian and cycle path underpasses, the elementary school extension and the new construction of the Nestroygasse kindergarten. “Investments amounting to millions, but every million is well spent and makes the municipality even more livable and lovable,” the state governor was convinced.

Finally, Mikl-Leitner congratulated the “successful young footballers of the U15 from the Neunkirchen sports club on “a fantastic achievement, namely their championship title in the East Regional League” and presented the young footballers with the championship plate of the season.

Mayor Herbert Osterbauer said the opening of the new sports field grandstand was a milestone in the 111-year history of the sports club. “Generations of athletes and officials have supported this club, so I am very pleased to be able to open this heart of our sports facility today.” It was not an easy project, but thanks to working together and thanks to the support of the state of Lower Austria, we have a modern grandstand created at the height of time.

Sports club chairman Dieter Leeb looked back on the development of the Neunkirchen sports club. One of the top goals was always to “awaken children’s motivation for sport,” which is why they began advertising the sports club in the Neunkirchen kindergartens years ago. “And today our boys from the U15 team, who had their first contact with the ball with us as kindergarten children, are champions in the state league,” said Leeb.

Franz Hummer, main group chairman of the Lower Austria Football Association, also conveyed his congratulations. The opening ceremony was musically accompanied by the 1st Neunkirchner Musikverein. City priest Bernhard Lang and the retired Protestant pastor Ingrid Vogel blessed the new sports field grandstand.
