LEA now also in Salzburg: starting signal for the empowerment of women and girls in western Austria

Together with the Minister for Women and LEA founder Susan Raab as well as state councilor Daniela Gutschi The LEA Women’s Fund invited people to the celebratory launch of LEA-Salzburg on July 9, 2024. LEA-Director Nalan Gündüz welcomed the opening event and emphasized the importance of the expansion of LEA in Salzburg: “With the additional location in the west, the LEA Women’s Fund is taking a further step to strengthen the promotion of women throughout Austria. The team in Salzburg will implement school visits and workshops on the topics of gender equality, career orientation and the promotion of women in the federal states of Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg and expand and support the network of LEA Role Models. We look forward to expanding our measures and supporting even more women and girls on their journey. With the great support of our volunteer LEA role models and a cooperation partner like Spar ICS, which promotes women in MINT professions, we can create lasting positive changes.”

Minister for Women Susan Raabinitiator of LEA, highlighted: “Under the motto ‘LEA goes West’, I was able to give the starting signal for the new LEA location in Salzburg yesterday and thus begin the rollout of our women’s fund’s offerings in the west of Austria. A big thank you to the over 100 role models who volunteer their time to empower women and girls by demonstrating that women and girls can become anything they want!”

State Councilor Daniela Gutschi emphasized in her welcoming remarks: “As State Councilor for Women, I have set myself the goal of promoting women-specific concerns in all areas of society in order to achieve actual equality. Let’s empower Austria creates a framework for initiatives and measures to break down old stereotypes, develop potential and enable real freedom of choice. I am pleased that the new initiative by Women’s Minister Susanne Raab will further strengthen the advisory services for girls and women in the state of Salzburg and, for example, show with role models what is possible.

In a stage discussion with five LEA role models, including two new role models from Spar ICS, Andreas KranabitlManaging Director of Spar ICS, as well Barbara Pollhead of the Role Model Initiative at LEA, the importance of role models and measures to promote women in companies was emphasized. “Following the motto ‘If she can see it, she can be it’, we want to bring female role models to the fore through the LEA Role Model Initiative. Through their personal stories and professional careers, they inspire people, especially girls and young women, to break down and question old role models. LEA therefore very much welcomes collaborations with regional companies such as Spar ICS in order to inspire even more girls to pursue career paths away from stereotypes.”so Barbara Poll.

About LEA – Let’s empower Austria

The Austrian Fund for the Strengthening and Promotion of Women and Girls (LEA – Let’s empower Austria), founded in 2022, has set itself the goal of advancing gender equality in Austria. The focus of the measures is on dismantling outdated role models and empowering girls and women in particular to freely develop their potential. With awareness-raising formats, LEA sets accents in all phases of the (female) biography – these range from STEM children’s books to workshops for children and young people or seminars on financial independence to project funding. Over 100 LEA role models and our own youth advisory board support the work of the fund on a voluntary basis and send a strong signal for greater visibility of women beyond common stereotypes.
