Sustainable innovations in TierQuarTier Vienna: New photovoltaic system and modernized rooms | City vienna

Over 70% of TierQuarTier Vienna’s annual electricity requirements can now be covered by the photovoltaic systems.

Vienna (OTS) A lot has changed at TierQuarTier Vienna in the last few months. Significant progress has been made through extensive renovations and additions to offer the animal protégés optimal care and to improve the climate and environmental friendliness of the animal shelter.

The new, state-of-the-art photovoltaic system represents a significant step towards an even more environmentally friendly facility. The system, which serves as a roof for the Motorikpark parking lot, is also one of the first completed PV flying roof projects in Vienna.

Even before the renovations, 120,000 kWh could be covered by the existing PV systems. With the additional PV systems, a total electricity yield of 345,000 kWh can now be achieved, which covers more than 70% of TierQuarTier Vienna’s annual electricity requirements. This enables more environmentally friendly care for the animal protégés.

“The TierQuarTier example impressively proves that solar power is one of the most important cornerstones of the energy transition: here, a full 70 percent of the annual electricity requirement can be covered by solar power alone. This is not only climate-friendly, but also protects your wallet, as PV systems provide the overall Reduce electricity consumption,” emphasizes Climate and Animal Protection City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky. “With a wide range of city funding, we are constantly expanding solar power output and supporting both private individuals and companies in the construction of their PV systems.”

Expansion of the existing ordination premises

The City of Vienna’s animal rescue service is based directly at the TierQuarTier Vienna and takes care of the transport of lost, homeless, confiscated and confiscated dogs, cats and small animals around the clock, 365 days a year. Since TierQuarTier Vienna opened in 2015, over 15,100 animals have been successfully rehomed and over 4,800 animals have been able to return to their owners.

All of these animals were carefully examined and cared for by our veterinarians. In order to be able to help the animals even more efficiently in the future, new, ultra-modern surgery rooms were created that are equipped with the latest technology to ensure the best possible medical care.

New training room for Viennese knowledge courses and expert lectures

The Vienna Expertise Course recently celebrated its 5th anniversary. Thanks to the newly built, modern training room, the courses can now take place in a more pleasant and contemporary atmosphere. It is also planned to offer expert lectures in the TierQuarTier Vienna in the future, where participants can learn everything they need to know about animal protection and animal husbandry.
