After the 600-person opera ball demo in 2023, the KJÖ is organizing a demo again this year under the motto “Eat The Rich”.

The Communist Youth of Austria (KJÖ) is again inviting people to a demonstration against the Opera Ball on February 8, 2024. The KJÖ has already organized the 2023 Opera Ball demo, in which more than 600 demonstrators took part for the first time in over 20 years. “The Opera Ball is a symbol of the immense inequality in society and a pure provocation in times when even full-time workers have to cut back.

As part of the demonstration, the Communist Youth is calling for real wage increases for all workers, higher apprenticeship compensation, the reintroduction of an inheritance tax and the expropriation of “crisis profits” and housing speculators. “To take a stand against the contradictions and injustices of the capitalist system, we are loudly taking to the streets.
