Wöginger: ÖVP club stands for loyalty to the pact

ÖVP club rejects motion of no confidence against Green Party Minister Gewessler

Vienna (OTS) Almost 60 legislative proposals are pending in Parliament in the next three plenary days. These were finally discussed and analyzed at the meeting of the ÖVP parliamentary club today. ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger: “This government is working until the election, as shown by the legislative proposals from care to the disabled and the community package, which are to be passed in the coming days for the benefit of the people in the country. The ÖVP club is the stable and stabilizing factor in the government. As we have always promised, we will ensure orderly conditions until the election.”

Also under discussion was an announced motion of no confidence against Green Party Minister Leonore Gewessler. Wöginger: “It is clear to the ÖVP that Minister Gewessler’s behavior in the renaturation law represents a violation of the law. That’s why it was important and right for the party to file a complaint against the minister. But we will not plunge the country into chaos around 90 days before the election. The club’s mandataries unanimously voted not to agree to the opposition’s motion of no confidence.”

The ÖVP club stands for loyalty to the pact, the voting behavior of the elected representatives prevents a free play of forces, emphasizes Wöginger, who concludes: “Parliament is not a playground for party-political banter. The opposition’s game of driving the government parties apart is transparent. Unlike the opposition clubs, the ÖVP club focuses on working for the citizens. The People’s Party is reliable and acts responsibly! The next three plenary days will prove this once again impressively.” (Conclusion)
