This leaves more net time for full-time employees and retirees

So far, the cold progression of annual wage increases has led to an additional tax burden. This arose because the tariff levels and tax deductions were not adjusted to inflation year after year. The cold progression in Austria has now been partially abolished and the Tax levels will be around this year adjusted up to 9.6 percent. This cushions the inflation-related tax increases and middle and higher incomes in particular will benefit.

In 2024, for example, an employed full-time employee with a median income of 3,256.79 euros gross per month will save 37.38 euros per month. Over the course of 2024, this person will only pay 371.52 euros in income tax – compared to 407.28 euros this year

Pensioners can also be happy: of the median pension (1,664 euros gross), only 22.73 euros will go to income tax in 2024 (instead of 53.25 euros in 2023). The relief per month is 30.52 euros. If the pension increase (+ 9.7 percent) takes effect, around 150 euros more remain net left over.
