Stocker: “Measures against family reunification are having an effect”

Apprehensions of refugees in Burgenland have also fallen sharply – the asylum brake is working

Vienna (OTS) “The measures against family reunification are having an effect. As the current figures from the Ministry of the Interior show, applications for family reunification, the apprehensions of refugees in Burgenland and the number of asylum applications continue to decline sharply. Applications for family reunification have fallen by more than 75 percent compared to the beginning of this year. The apprehensions of refugees in Burgenland also fell by more than 95 percent from January to June this year compared to the previous year. This shows that the asylum system is being relieved in all areas. “Once again it is clear that Chancellor Karl Nehammer is acting, while Herbert Kickl is just talking big,” says the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the occasion of the current positive development in the asylum sector.

Stocker continued: “It is the People’s Party that ensures security in our country and sustainably relieves the burden on the asylum system. We must continue these positive developments in the asylum area and continue to take consistent action against illegal migration in the future. Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s Austrian plan focuses on security and this is also reflected in the daily work of the People’s Party in the federal government. Only with the People’s Party and Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer can lasting relief from our asylum system be guaranteed. You can see that the asylum brake is working!”
