#dif24: A brilliant Friday | SPÖ Vienna, June 22, 2024

The first day of the festival was a success and was all about social participation for everyone!

Vienna (OTS/SPW) In hot temperatures and lots of sunshine, this year’s Danube Island Festival started the festival weekend with a great atmosphere and a colorful variety of music and programs. In keeping with this year’s motto #myheartbeatsisland, it left no heart in the audience untouched. Early in the day, numerous visitors celebrated not only the well-known songs at the big inclusion concert The BossHoss unplugged Duo feat. Sascha und Alec, but also togetherness through participation. People danced, sang along and celebrated. The festival opener was moderated by Paralympic Schwimmer Andreas Onea.

Vienna’s mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig: “Today we experienced a brilliant start to the festival, which showed what the Donauinselfest has stood for for more than four decades: for respectful coexistence and opportunities for participation for all people in our city. The strong solidarity that we experience here every year at the festival and the low-threshold access mean that all Viennese can celebrate together! An example of how inclusion is practiced at the festival!”

Barbara Novak, state party secretary of the SPÖ Vienna: “My heart beats on the island! Top-class artists and a fantastic audience created an outstanding atmosphere on the festival Friday and showed how social interaction is lived in Vienna. In particular, the inclusion concert by The BossHoss unplugged Duo feat. We will all remember Sascha and Alec as a special highlight for a long time. Participation also means equal opportunities for everyone and we are fully committed to this at the Danube Island Festival. With the donation of the cup deposit, the LernLEO of the Samaritan Association of Vienna can be easily supported this year.”

Matthias Friedrich, Managing Director of the Pro Event Team for Vienna and project manager of the Danube Island Festival: “The weather kept what it promised and we were able to start the festival weekend with a sunny day. For the first time this year, we started the Danube Island Festival Friday with a great inclusion concert on the large festival stage in the morning. We are very happy about the many visitors, their companions and their families and friends who were able to enjoy this special concert without barriers.
