Representative Hursky highlights the successes of the security measures in Vienna and calls for the police to be strengthened at both the state and federal levels.
What did Lippenfürst Kickl achieve during his time as Interior Minister? The dismantling of the Federal Ministry for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (BVT) and the introduction of a mounted police force with horrendous costs on the backs of the Viennese taxpayers
SPÖ local councilor and security spokesman Christian Hursky
Vienna (OTS) – Introducing his speech at the urgent meeting of the 55th municipal council meeting, the municipal councilor and security spokesman for the SPÖ Vienna found clear words for the previous speakers and highlighted the citizen-oriented work of the red-pink progressive coalition. “Our measures are having an effect,” emphasizes Hursky, referring to the weapons ban in Vienna that was already called for in 2019. The example of the Praterstern clearly shows that this measure is a successful result of social democratic solidarity. “We in Vienna show that the security situation at Praterstern has improved significantly since the weapons ban was introduced,” continued Hursky.
Good cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the LPD Vienna
The successful management of the security zone in Favoriten, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Vienna State Police Directorate (LPD Vienna), is further evidence of the effectiveness of the social democratic initiatives and the good cooperation. “We are facing the challenges with the Vienna Way and have achieved concrete results together with our partners,” explains Hursky, referring to Reumannplatz. Having just come from a photo session with Interior Minister Karner at Reumannplatz, the SPÖ local council uses photo material to show what the current situation at Reumannplatz really looks like – under control and well looked after.
Call for more police forces
In order to further increase security in Vienna, Hursky is calling for the hiring of 1,500 additional police officers for Vienna and a further 4,000 police officers at the federal level. “Vienna urgently needs more police forces to meet the increased demands and challenges and to ensure the safety of the people of Vienna,” said Hursky.
Commitment of the Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig
“The mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, is actively committed to the security of our city. “Through the constant recruitment and the good cooperation with the “Association of Friends of the Vienna Police”, Mayor Ludwig shows that Vienna does not stand idly by, but is actively working on solutions,” Hursky praises the mayor’s commitment and once again emphasizes the positive cooperation.
Kickl – a lip prince for favorites
Hursky, on the other hand, expresses sharp criticism of the term of office of former Interior Minister Herbert Kickl in the direction of the blue faction in the Vienna City Council, which had made the urgent question on the subject of security. “What did Lippenfürst Kickl achieve during his time as Interior Minister? The dismantling of the Federal Ministry for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (BVT) and the introduction of a mounted police force with horrendous costs on the backs of the Viennese taxpayers.”
, criticizes Hursky. Vienna is constantly offering and optimizing measures here and ensuring the safety of the Viennese.
Finally, the SPÖ local council and security spokesman once again strengthened his call for 1,500 additional police officers in Vienna to ensure more security for all citizens.
