Sepsis: Blood-based diagnostic technology saves lives

Automation of sepsis diagnostics through international cooperation

Early detection and timely treatment with antibiotics tailored to the pathogen saves lives. Our sepsis technology delivers a result in three hours. In traditional procedures – which are still widely used in European hospitals – the microorganisms are cultured from the patients’ blood. However, this is very time-consuming and sometimes takes days. Too late for successful treatment

Dr. Bernhard Ronacher, managing director and founder of Cube Dx

St. Valentin (OTS) In Europe, around 500,000 people die from sepsis every year. A quick clarification of the causative pathogen plays a crucial role in successful therapy. Microbiological cultivations often take too long, with an average of 48 hours. The direct detection of the pathogen from a blood sample, developed by Cube Dx, only takes 3 hours and is now fully automated in cooperation with the Japanese PSS and the German laboratory process specialist Synergy Diagnostics.“Early detection and timely treatment with antibiotics tailored to the pathogen saves lives.
