Sporting goals to reduce expenses
Austria urgently needs structural reforms for a more efficient use of tax money. But how are actors supposed to implement this who are throwing money around themselves? We call on all old parties to start spending discipline within themselves. The obvious waste of taxpayers’ money must be stopped immediately in all areas!”
Ing. MMMag. Hannes PIRKER, M.A.I.S.
Salzburg (OTS) – Austria does not have a revenue problem, but rather a spending problem. One of the highest tax and contribution rates of all EU states is met with outdated structures and excessive bureaucracy with almost ineffective controls. According to estimates by renowned economists, at least 10 billion euros per year can be saved sustainably through structural reforms and a more efficient use of resources in the system, without cutting a single service. This amount can, for example, be invested directly in reducing the tax burden or in securing the pension system.
As the first building block of its “Politics 2.0” initiative, the SERVUS party is calling for a program to ensure government spending discipline with the following key points:
Introduction of a government spending brake
Successful countries like Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden are leading the way: by focusing spending policy on tasks and impact and putting a brake on spending, the tax rate can be reduced without reducing benefits. With efficient structures, a modern welfare state can easily be financed with a balanced national budget. SERVUS is therefore calling for a government spending brake in order to initiate a real administrative and federalism reform for Austria.
Reduction of the campaign cost cap
The old parties are each spending up to 10 million euros on their nationwide election campaigns. SERVUS is calling for a significant reduction in the spending limit per party and election campaign. SERVUS will use donations of a maximum of 555,555 euros for its own campaign for the National Council election. This is intended to achieve the election goal of at least a double-digit result. SERVUS will make all donations received up to the election date available to charitable purposes. Organizations that pursue charitable or charitable purposes, as well as people in need, can now register on the website www.servuspartei.at register to participate in the distribution.
Reduction in party funding
Tax-financed support for parties, including club and academy funding, currently amounts to around 250 million (in words: two hundred and fifty million!!) euros per year. Yes, hello, you read that right! A reduction in state funding for the old party system is urgently needed. SERVUS is therefore calling for state funding for parties to be limited to a maximum of 50 million euros per year.
SERVUS party founder Hannes PIRKER sums up the demands:
