Stocker ad Hafenecker: “Blue desire cannot be surpassed in audacity”

Another desperate attempt to divert attention from possibly stashed gold bars, expense scandals or possible embezzlement worth millions in Graz

Vienna (OTS) “The audacity of the blue desire cannot be surpassed. The FPÖ simply wants to distract from its own scandals. This actionism, which will be fruitless, should be evaluated in this way and no other way. Once again it becomes clear that the radical circle around party chairman Kickl is ready to do anything to cover up their own affairs and smear others for no reason. We are convinced that the Kickl-FPÖ is just trying to distract from its own scandals,” said the general secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, calmly responding to the request.

“But we will examine the fact that the boundaries between office and party had disappeared in former blue government participations in the next U-committee we have convened. Because the party that wanted to sell half of the republic to supposed Russian oligarchs, is believed to be stashing gold bars in Tyrol, may have embezzled 1.8 million euros in Graz and is still deeply involved in dubious expense affairs, we certainly cannot expect to deal with the party in a legally compliant and honest manner with taxpayers’ money,” continued Stocker, who recalled: “Last July we sent the Court of Auditors a statement of the facts in which we expressed our concerns. The following points leave questions about the FPÖ figures unanswered:

– The FPÖ only spent around 90,000 euros less than the People’s Party: What do the findings from the People’s Party’s in-depth audits mean for the blue figures regarding their election campaign costs?

– Significant cost items developed unusually in the 2019 election campaign year (e.g. for events and personnel). For us, these do not correspond to the political reality of life.

– According to media reports, people who are and were entrusted with the financial management of the Federal FPÖ, Graz FPÖ and Styrian FPÖ are involved in a financial scandal.

On the other hand, completely new standards have been applied to the People’s Party – never before have the financial management of a political party in Austria been examined so intensively and comprehensively. But we stand by it: These new standards must now also be applied to the other parties – especially the FPÖ,” concluded Stocker.
